1. World Record Holder-mention in the Guinness Book of World Records
As a world Record Holder Sri. Yella Venkateswara Rao name has been entered into the Guinness Book of Records for continuously playing the Mridangam for thirty six (36) hours playing a, Mridanga Maha Yagnam organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Andhra Pradesh at Sankar Mutt, Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh on 16th August 1981 started at 5.00 PM on 16th August 1981 continued until 7.00PM of 17th August, 1981.
- Has more than 15,000 Regional, National and International performance to his credit.
- Also performed several times in All-India Radio (beginning in 1954) and Doordarshan 9from 1965).

- Research in Music Therapy-Devised ‘Mridangam Therapy’ programs tailored for the development of mentally handicapped children at Thakur Hariprasad Institute for the Mentally Handicapped for the last 7 years. Carried out Research on Mridangam Therapy, one of its kind, and released an audio recording on Dhyana Mridangam for Meditation.
- Produced and performed ‘Nava Mridangam’, performing on 9 Mridangams at once, another one of its kind.

- Presented a never before full solo Mridangam concert involving Keerthanas, Ragams, Tanams and Pallavis on Nava Mridangam
- Introduced solo Mridangam concerts viz Mimicry on Mridangam and Laya Mridangamdhyanam (Meditation with Mridangam)
- Recorded for different companies producing EP, LP records, Audio and Video cassettes with many accompaniments
- Created and Composed different talas and many laya patterns
- Wrote a book on Mridangam (theory and practicals) for Under Graduate, Post-Graduate and 6 Year Diploma and Ph.D courses
- Trained and groomed a great number of musicians who occupied key slots in AIR. Music colleges and institutions
- Produced Trikkal Jazz with Jugalbhandi Shivamani (Jazz) and Viku (Ghatam)
- Composed, Directed and Produced for Devotional songs in AIR, Doordarshan and also released cassettes and CDs
- Innovated, Produced and released audio cassettes, CDs viz., Dhyana Mridangam for meditation
