Peas Pulao

Method

  1. Heat oil in a wok or pressure pan. 
  2. Add spices and the paste to it. Saute for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add green peas and salt.
  4.  Pour two cups of water (double the measure of rice) and bring it to a boil.
  5. Drain excess water from the soaked rice and add to the boiling water.
  6. Cook for a while and reduce the flame.
  7. Cover with a lid and allow to simmer till done.
  8. Serve hot with perugu pachchadi / yogurt chutney.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice washed and soaked in water for 15 minutes
  • 1 cup fresh shelled green peas
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Spices
    • 3 cloves
    • 3 cardamoms
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1 inch cinnamon stick
    • tsp shah jeera
  • Make into Paste
    • 1 onion chopped
    • 2 green chilies
    • A small piece of ginger
    • A sprig of each fresh coriander and mint leaves
